Our location is perfect for Birding, Shelling, Beachcombing and Nature Watching
Our beach is one of the nicest in Southwest Florida. You can walk for miles. If you want to walk on Lovers Key, it is a short trek over the drawbridge to the State Park.
Often we watch pods of dolphins feeding right by the beach. Within a very short drive are numerous wildlife preserves. Manatees, alligators and unusual birds can be found.
Our beach hosts the largest nesting endangered Snowy Plover population in Florida. To find out more about the Plovers click here.
Fossils can be found on the Peace River (about a 45 minute drive)
Some have even found pirate treasure in the area
Bird and Nature Watching
We are close to Sannibel Island and the Ding Darling Nature Preserve, Corkscrew Swamp, the Everglades, Manataza Pass nature preserve and many other wonderful natural areas.
Mound Key has snakes, tortoises, and spiders for those who are more adventurous.
